Its objectives are set out in the Teaching Profession Act.
Education Act
The Education Act specifies goals for Alberta’s Early Childhood Services to Grade 12 (ECS-12) education system and identifies the roles and responsibilities of the Ministry, school boards, charter schools, private schools, teachers, parents and students. The Act came into force on September 1, 2019.
Code of Professional Conduct
The Code of Professional Conduct stipulates minimum standards of professional conduct of teachers but is not an exhaustive list of such standards.
Teacher Qualifications Service (TQS)
The Teacher Qualifications Service (TQS) is the agency in Alberta responsible for evaluating a teacher's years of education for salary purposes.
Alberta School Employee Benefit Plan (ASEBP)
ASEBP is more than health insurance—we’re health champions. We provide sustainable, holistic health benefits, programs and services and are there to support you and your employer throughout your personal and workplace wellness journeys.
Alberta Teachers Retirement Fund (ATRF)
ATRF functions as the trustee, administrator and custodian of the assets of the Teachers' Pension Plan for all Alberta teachers employed in school jurisdictions and charter schools, as well as teachers employed by private schools that have elected to join the Private School Plan.
Canadian Teachers Federation (CTF)
As a federation of Member Organizations, the CTF/FCE promotes and supports quality inclusive publicly funded public education, in all its forms. We uphold teaching as a profession and advocate for adequate resourcing, labour rights, and social justice, across Canada and around the world.
